The third weekend of September is a lovely one to be downtown in Southwest Florida. The Downtown Sarasota Farmers Market, an art festival on the Circle, free waterfront fitness at The Bay, a comedy dinner night on Main Street in Lakewood Ranch, and live music along the Bradenton Riverwalk all land between Friday and Monday. Downtown Sarasota This Weekend (September 18-21)

Downtown Sarasota pairs a classic Saturday farmers market with an art festival on nearby St. Armands Circle, a free morning of fitness and celebration at The Bay, and a comedy headliner at McCurdy's Theatre.

Friday, September 18

Tinsley Ellis at Fogartyville

525 Kumquat Court, 8:00 PM, doors at 7:00 PM. Friday night, blues and rock guitarist Tinsley Ellis brings his Labor of Love tour to Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center, the home of WSLR Community Radio just south of downtown. Tickets run about $30 for members and $35 for the general public, with a $15 student rate. It is an intimate, well-loved listening room.

Kevin Nealon at McCurdy's Comedy Theatre

1923 Ringling Boulevard, 6:30 PM and 8:50 PM. Comedian and Saturday Night Live alum Kevin Nealon headlines McCurdy's from Thursday through Saturday, with two shows Friday night. Tickets are about $47. It is a polished, laugh-heavy start to the weekend close to downtown.

Sirens & Sips Wine Dinner at Vino Bistro

1419 5th Street. Friday night brings a Sirens & Sips wine-paired dinner at Vino Bistro, one of downtown's coziest spots. Reserve ahead, then stroll Main Street and Palm Avenue after dinner.

Music and Dinner on Main Street

Restaurants along Main Street and Palm Avenue fill early on Friday evenings, and several downtown spots book local musicians on the weekend. Lineups change weekly, so check individual venue schedules before you head out.

Saturday, September 19

Downtown Sarasota Farmers Market

Lemon Avenue and Main Street, 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Free admission. Rain or shine. The Downtown Sarasota Farmers Market has been a Saturday ritual since 1979. This week more than 70 vendors bring fresh Florida produce, prepared foods, flowers, artisan bread, and live music to Lemon Avenue. Arrive early for the best selection.

Free Fitness Morning at The Bay

The Bay Sarasota, free. Saturday starts early on the bayfront: a guided kayak tour at 8:00 AM, bootcamp at 9:00 AM, Namaste at The Bay yoga at 9:00 AM, and Dance at The Bay, a Zumba session with Yaël Campbell, at 10:30 AM. The park is also in the middle of its fourth anniversary community celebration and its Hispanic Heritage Month program, which runs September 15 through October 15. All of it is free and open to the public.

St. Armands Circle Art Festival

St. Armands Circle Park, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday. Free. Just across the Ringling Causeway, the fourth annual St. Armands Circle Art Festival brings more than 175 juried artisans with a craft marketplace to the Circle. It is a colorful, walkable outdoor show worth the short drive from downtown.

Kevin Nealon at McCurdy's

McCurdy's Comedy Theatre, 6:30 PM and 8:50 PM. Saturday brings two more Kevin Nealon shows. If you missed Friday, this is the bigger night of his run.

Candlelight: A Tribute to ABBA

St. Boniface Episcopal Church, 6:15 PM. Candlelight concerts present a string tribute to ABBA in the warm glow of hundreds of candles, a serene and popular evening program in a beautiful setting.

Selby Botanical Gardens

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, 1534 Mound Street, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The gardens sit between exhibitions this weekend after Shared Light closed, with the Orchid Show 2026 opening in October. Even between shows, the downtown campus, tropical collections, and bayfront grounds under the historic banyan trees are well worth a wander.

Sunday, September 20

St. Armands Circle Art Festival, Day Two

10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The art festival continues Sunday, a free outdoor way to spend a sunny afternoon browsing the work of 175-plus artisans on the Circle.

Sunday at Selby and the Bayfront

Selby Gardens is open 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and the bayfront path connecting the marina, the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, and The Bay Sarasota is always free. Stop for coffee, watch the boats, and soak in the relaxed pace.

Monday, September 21

Behind the Curtain at the Van Wezel

Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. Monday afternoon offers a docent-led Behind the Curtain tour that walks through the hall's Florida art collection, then goes backstage to the fly system, the movable orchestra pit, and the dressing rooms. Tickets are available through the Van Wezel box office.

Mat Pilates at The Bay

The Bay Sarasota, 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM. Free. Two mat Pilates sessions on the waterfront cap off Monday evening, part of the park's busy free weekly fitness lineup.

Laughs & Courses: A Comedy Dinner Party at GROVE

Main Street Lakewood Ranch, 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Friday night, GROVE on Main Street hosts Laughs & Courses, a comedy dinner with three comics and three courses served between sets. It is a fun, date-night-ready way to open the weekend in the district.

Live Music on Main Street

Main Street Lakewood Ranch keeps live music going on Friday nights at spots like The Plaza and Allswell, and the surrounding restaurants fill up early. Note that the big Music on Main block party runs on the First Friday of the month only, so this weekend is a quieter, cozier Main Street scene. Check venue calendars for the weekend lineups.

Saturday, September 19

Sarasota Paradise vs Greenville Triumph SC

Premier Sports Campus, 7:30 PM. Professional soccer returns to Lakewood Ranch on Saturday night as Sarasota Paradise hosts Greenville Triumph SC, just minutes from downtown. It is a lively, family-friendly evening out under the lights.

Live Music and Dinner at Waterside Place

Waterside Place, 1560 Lakefront Drive. The central plaza with its water features, the covered pavilion, and the surrounding restaurants make it a lovely spot for Saturday night. Try Cooper's Hawk Winery and Restaurant, The Capital Grille, or Good Liquid Brewing Company, and watch the fountain light up as the sky darkens over the lake.

Sunday, September 20

Farmers Market at Lakewood Ranch

Waterside Place, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Free to browse. The award-winning farmers market returns on Sunday, consistently named one of the best farmers markets in Florida. A strong weekend lineup brings more than 100 local vendors with produce, prepared foods, artisan breads, live music, live chef demonstrations, and a kids' art corner to the lakefront plaza.

Sunday Brunch on Main Street

Several Main Street restaurants serve Sunday brunch, from casual cafes to full-service spots that pair well with a morning at the market.

Monday, September 21

A Quiet Start to the Week by the Lake

Monday is a quiet day in Lakewood Ranch, but Main Street and Waterside Place are open for dining, shopping, and strolling, and the lakefront path at Waterside Place offers a peaceful evening walk.

Downtown Bradenton This Weekend (September 18-21)

Downtown Bradenton settles into a relaxed mix of live music on the Riverwalk, a downtown putt-putt crawl on Old Main Street, a blues double bill, and free time along the Manatee River.

Friday, September 18

Stobie Pocket Band at City Grille Riverwalk

City Grille at Bradenton Riverwalk, 101 Riverfront Boulevard, 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Free. Friday night the Stobie Pocket Band plays live on the Riverwalk at Mattison's City Grille. Grab a seat on the water, listen to the band, and watch the sun set over the Manatee River.

Yates McKendree All-Star Band at Cottonmouth

Cottonmouth Southern Soul Kitchen, 1910 14th Street West, 7:00 PM. About $25. Just west of downtown, the Yates McKendree All-Star Band brings a big blues and roots show to Cottonmouth's kitchen stage. It is a favorite local room with a soul-food menu.

Suncoast Cornhole Classic

Bradenton Area Convention Center, 1 Haben Boulevard in Palmetto, Friday through Sunday. Just across the river, the Suncoast Cornhole Classic runs three days of competitive and recreational cornhole for players and spectators alike.

Saturday, September 19

De Soto Main Street Putt-Putt

Old Main Street, 1:30 PM. Saturday afternoon, the De Soto Main Street Putt-Putt sends teams on a mini-golf crawl through about 10 bars and restaurants along Old Main Street, starting at Cork's Cigar Bar. It is a playful, very downtown way to spend an afternoon.

Downtown Bradenton Photo Walk

6:00 PM, starting at Lost Kangaroo Pub. Free. Saturday evening there is a Downtown Bradenton Photo Walk, a relaxed group stroll through the streets and alleys of downtown with your camera or phone. A nice way to see the district through a photographer's eye.

JP Soars & The Red Hots at Flamingo Bay Brewing

Flamingo Bay Brewing Co., 7:00 PM. Two of the circuit's best, JP Soars and the Red Hots with Jason Ricci, share a blues double bill Saturday night. Brewery seating is first come, so arrive early.

Saturday on the Riverwalk

Bradenton Riverwalk, free. The 1.5-mile waterfront promenade is filled with walkers, joggers, cyclists, and families on Saturdays. A fishing pier, beach volleyball courts, a skate park, the Mosaic Amphitheater, and open lawns keep everyone busy. Pack a picnic, rent a bike, or find a shaded bench and watch the boats along the Manatee River.

Village of the Arts

The historic arts district around the Village of the Arts is a lovely Saturday destination even between its big art walk weekends, which this month fell on September 4-5. Many galleries and studios keep regular weekend hours on Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, so check the Village's events page for open houses this weekend.

Sunday, September 20

Sunday Afternoon on the Riverwalk

Sunday afternoon is the quietest, most pleasant time on the Riverwalk, perfect for a walk or bike ride along the Manatee River. The splash pad is a favorite with families, and the pavilions offer shaded spots to sit and watch the boats and the drawbridge.

Live Music and Sunday Dinner

Several downtown venues, including the restaurants on the Riverwalk, often have live music on weekends. Old Main Street's varied dining scene, from Italian classics to Latin American kitchens, wraps up a relaxed Sunday.

Monday, September 21

A Quiet Day by the River

Monday is a quiet day downtown. The Riverwalk, the cafes, and the shops of Old Main keep a calm rhythm, and the riverfront is an easy place to ease into the week.

Note on Bradenton Events

Downtown's own farmers market and the Main Street Live concert series run during the cooler fall and winter season and return in October, so market lovers should plan around those dates.
